This series is essential to one's Taijiquan training and internal martial/healing arts training in general. All of these methods have been tried and tested and only the very best are taught. Qi Development Tools Volume 7: Gaining heavy Hands: Power Striking

This Volume teaches an excellent area of the 12 Qi Development Tools. The area of gaining very powerful strikes from a very short distance. Even a small person is able to gain the power from only one inch away from the target and that's where real fighting happens. If you take someone’s arm, rip it off and hit someone with it, you could kill them as an arm is a very heavy object. However, most martial artists never realize their full potential in that they will use adverse muscle groups to make their arms “light”.
Here is where the 12 Qi Development tools come into play. Each of them teaches at a sub-conscious level, a different striking method, causing the attacking arm to remain heavy. The first Qigong Tool “HEART” teaches us how to keep the heavy hands during the normal Tai Chi fist. As soon as you THINK about striking someone, you have lost it and you will lose this ability. So the “SUNG” State gained from each of the 12 methods gives you this ability to not telegraph the attack and to not THINK before or AS you strike. Each of the 12 Qi Development Tools is shown once only as this is not a DVD to actually TEACH the 12 as that is already covered in previous volumes. But the “Heavy Hands” or putting the WEIGHT in to your hands and arms is taught for each method. Some very useful SELF DEFENCE Methods are also taught in this volume and with more ideas and methods of fighting. This volume covers the last 8 methods and carries on from MTG391.

Qi Development Tools Volume 5:  The Notes to the 12 Tools. Advanced Level

Just the same as in any internal study, we begin with a basic or beginning way in which to begin learning. Although the 12 Qi Development Tools Qigongs are as advanced as it gets, traditionally, there was a distinction between what was taught to the beginner and what was taught once mastered. The reasoning behind this is that some of the hand movements in particular are so intricate that it would take forever to teach it at the level to a beginner. So the beginning way was always taught first. Here, Erle shows the more intricate hand moves. These will take your Qigong to a higher level. You will then be able to work out how the most advanced way of Tai Chi is to be performed. In this advanced level, there are number of other "Qi Activations" along certain meridians as we do the 12 Qigong methods. It is of course important to have learnt from the beginning 3 12 Qi Development Tools videos as Erle does not actually teach each one again, but rather adds to them.

I discovered that many of my students, although they had the physical movements correct, they just weren’t getting the internal development. So I took a look at what they were dong and developed a way of teaching how using what they already knew, form and push hands. Now, most them at least have a better understanding of how to gain it and how to use it. (The Internal Qi)

On this tape Erle Montaigue teaches about the 6 balanced pairs of body parts that must be balanced yin and yang in order to gain the most from your Taijiquan training. In fact without these pairs balanced and corresponding to their internal organ pairs and meridians then you might as well go home as far as Taijiquan is concerned. gaining the 'Internal' is the most important area of one's Taijiquan training and this is the starting point.

In this video, Erle Montaigue talks about the 3 energy systems in the human body. He discusses and shows how to firstly activate them and join them together in order to gain exceptional power over very short distances. He also shows a very special qigong method which activates and builds upon that power. The internal power is housed in all of the joints of the body, in particular the "Sub-Tailar Joint". When one knows how to join this internal power with our external power, great power is felt. You can then use this power in daily tasks or for instance in sports like shot-put, or for healing or fighting. This tape was shot at Erle's recent WTBA annual workshop.

Have you ever wondered why you were taught certain ways of doing form and then your body tries to tell  you something different? After while, your body begins to tell your limps etc., to do the movements in a slightly different way. but because your teacher did not tell you or did not know about the advanced methods, you stick with what you have been taught at a basic level. The 'Rhythm method' will show you how to perform your form by having total harmony with the rhythm of the form. You mix your own body rhythm with the natural rhythm of the form. Doing form this way, allowing your hands and arms to move in the way that they want to, you will find that Qi activation points during the form will happen by these new movement's action upon the tantien. Qigong is also included in this tape and how to get the most Qi activation out of your Qigong practice. This was filmed at the WTBA's annual workshop, Camp 2002.
