Workshop-PA

September 21st-22nd 2019
Eli Montaigue will be teaching in Kingston PA (Near Wilkes-Barre/Scranton)

Saturday 21st:

10am till 12:30pm
Small San Sau Martial form.
This is where we take Taiji in the self defence area of training, as well as giving a nice yang lift in your energy from a health point of view.
The form will be taught right from scratch, we will work through the postures slowly with correct structure and movement, teaching you the correct loose way of striking, how to develop power in the form. Then we put you together with a partner to create the fighting set, again working through slowly and only putting in speed and power once you can move well, power and speed comes from being correct in your movement, not from trying to be fast and powerful.

Then 2pm till 4:30pm
Taiji principles of movement. This can be applied to any Taiji form you are practicing, we will be using the Yang Lu Chan Form, taking postures from this form and having a look into the body mechanics of how to move, to create power, from a balance of structure and flow, also looking at how the correct muscular activation in the form is how we get the energy to flow, through a connective chain of activation through the muscular structure of the body.
The main focus here will be the slow movement of the form, but we will also cover the Fa-jing aspects as well.
Suitable for both beginners and advanced.

Sunday 22nd 10am till 4pm (90 minute lunch break)
Covering Push Hands.
The style taught by the WTBA is that of the Old Yang, where the practice of push hands is a lead into self defence training.
We don't train push hands to be better at doing push hands, we train it to learn and understand principles of movement and sensitivity that will greatly enhance our martial training as well as our Taiji form practice.
Unlike most styles of push hands, we hold a small upright stance, so we learn how to ground and issue power from a realistic position rather than down in a big low stance.
