These hook knives or Gou Dao from Baguazhang are one of the rarest Chinese weapons.
Till now we have been unable to source any online, so we have connected with a knife maker to have our own built.
The base design was created from Erle's memory of the set he used in China back in 1981, Eli then took this basic design and photo shopped together the final design, adding the shaped handle and the finger guard, so these blades are a WTBA design.
We have two types you can choose from, the real ones and the practice set.
We recommend the practice set unless you have a lot of experience with weapons, these are also good for application work so you don't injure your training partner.
Plus you save €300 over the real ones which you could spend on training.
The real blades
These are made using 3.5mm O1 high carbon tool steel, heated to 800 degrees and quenched in oil, then tempered.
They are double edged, using a larger thin bevel on the outer edge for maximum sharpness and a smaller thicker bevel on the inner edge for strength and durability while still being sharp, as this is used a lot in defence of other weapons such as a sword.
They are just over 400g each in weight.
They are full tang and the handle is made from Oak.
Approx 3 to 4 weeks build time.
Cost is €400 for a pair, plus postage from Malta.

Weight is just under 400g each.
They are full tang and handle is thermo ash wood.
These are made to be as close to the real ones as possible in weight and feel while keeping the cost as low as possible.
If you close your eyes it's hard to tell them apart, if you gouge yourself during training you can definitely tell them apart!
Approx 1 to 2 weeks build time.
Cost is €100 for a pair, plus postage from Malta.
