March 25th-26th 2023
A weekend workshop with Eli Montaigue (Head of the WTBA)

Saturday:
25th
10am till 5pm (with one hour for lunch)

Yang Lu Chan's Taijiquan form and Push Hands.
This is the original Old Yang Style form, still mostly slow moving like modern forms, but the original form also includes explosive energy (Fa-jing) movements, these powerful energetic movements give this form a far greater balance of yin and yang. Also included are dim mak application, not the mystical dim mak you see in the movies, real world practical applications all aimed at the physiological dim mak points on the body.  We will train both the form as well as applications.
Taiji principles of movement. This can be applied to any Taiji form you are practicing, though we will be using the Yang Lu Chan Form, taking postures from this form and having a look into the body mechanics of how to move, to create power, from a balance of structure and flow, also looking at how the correct muscular activation in the form is how we channel the energy.

For the push hands lesson we will be looking into details like how to effortlessly destabilize your partner by finding their centre, as well as how to move your centre when it is found so you can take your partners force and re route it through your body and down to the ground so your structure is not broken.
Push Hands is not fighting, but it teaches principles that can be used in fighting, as well as greatly enhancing your understanding of the Taiji form, due to learning how to properly move from the centre under pressure.

Suitable for both beginners and advanced.

Sunday:
26th 10am till 2pm (with a short break at 12pm)

Here we will be looking at self defence training methods and applications, you will pair up with another student to practice.
Students can do the drills either at a slow and easy pace to better understand their own body and improve the knowledge of the form practice,
or those who are up for it can put in more speed and pressure to see how Taiji works as a fighting art.
Small San Sau and Foundations of Combat.
We will take the training method of Small San Sau, and see what it is we are learning from this form, and how to apply it to real fighting, as well as looking at other Foundation Skills for fighting.

Suitable for both beginners and advanced.
